HSBC Funds Bayan-Mayani Push for Smallholder Climate Resilience

HSBC Bayan Mayani Climate Funding

Manila, July 10, 2025 — HSBC Philippines has provided philanthropic funding to support Philippine smallholder farmers and fisherfolk in adapting to climate change. This initiative is in partnership with the Bayan Family of Foundations and agri-fisheries platform Mayani.

Supporting Climate Adaptation Through Community Hubs

The grant will fund the establishment of climate resilience hubs in Quezon, Cebu, and Bohol. These hubs will be managed by local community members and will focus on sustainable farming and fishing practices tailored to localized environmental risks.

The goal is to build local capacity for adaptation while creating new income opportunities through climate-smart enterprise development and access to sustainable markets.

Role of Bayan Family of Foundations

Bayan Family of Foundations will serve as the implementing partner, overseeing the community-based training, mobilization, and long-term capacity building to ensure the success of the climate hubs and their integration into community structures.

Tech-Driven Market Access with Mayani

Mayani, the country’s leading farm-to-table platform, will provide support by connecting these communities to sustainable demand, optimizing value chains, and ensuring that climate-resilient produce reaches institutional buyers.

Driving ESG and Sustainability Goals

This initiative is aligned with HSBC’s global commitment to sustainable finance and community-focused environmental efforts. It contributes to advancing ESG goals by empowering vulnerable agricultural communities to mitigate climate risks.
